The Who Crew...

Saturday, 22 August2009

This is what happens when I'm left to my own devices! Well, not really. This is what happens when you bore me at work!

Let's take a walk back through time, shall we?

*smirks*
Time Travel... it so goes with this post...

*clears through*
Ahem, anyway...

Way back when on a date I can't remember, I had a LOOONG meeting at work. We have those every couple of months... and they last for hours on end... and they're really boring. On this day, about half way through, they really started to bore me, so I got out a blank piece of notebook paper and a pencil and began to doodle. Pretty normal, right? Except my doodles, tend to make themselves into actual drawings.

Now, I know what you're thinking, but don't worry, I didn't get caught. I was sitting in a corner, and there were about 20 or so people in the room watching a video. A boring video, mind you. Let's not forget that, as I'm trying to justify my non-attentiveness in the situation.

But anyway. I drew for a good while, every once in a while taking notes on the video. By the time the video was done, I had put my drawing away and, for a great while there after... completely forgot about it. That is, until a few days a go, when I was leafing through the notebook in which I drew it in. I really wanted to ink it, because I thought it was pretty good (by my scribbly standards), but I didn't want to ruin it, again, because I thought it was pretty good. So, today, I scanned it, printed it, got out my color pencils and colored it! I had great fun!

Enjoy my random, drawing!

It Happened Again...

... I forgot to update. Well, no. That's not exactly true. I remembered, I just didn't quite feel up to it. Heheh. Forgive me? =)

I sure hope so.

Well, just like last time. I'll add the two I "forgot" and add today's while I'm at it. Yep! I'm actually going to post a picture on the day it corresponds to! I know, I'm shocked, too! Especially since it's only 2:00 AM! But I already took my picture, and I totally love it! I hope you love it, too! So, without further adieu, I implore you to scroll on down! Enjoy, Sweet Cheeks, enjoy!

A Healthy Watch Over Los Angeles...

Friday, 21 August2009

I've been in an urban picture taking mood... and I pass this hospital on my way to work every so often. If you're a Los Angeles resident like I am, you'll easily recognize this as LAC USC. I've never actually been inside it, or know much about it, but I do know that it is super pretty! I love the architecture, the openness feel that the abundance of glass gives off, and the way it reflects a clean and sterile environment. In this picture, you can see one of the main towers with the large billboard expressing it's commitment to "The Tradition of Excellence."

Now, like most of my pictures... I took this from the inside of my car. I actually wanted to take a picture of the main entrance, again, because it's super pretty! It has a wide staircase up to the main doors and you can see the main sign that greats the visitors at the sidewalk level. But, there was no parking on the street and there was a cop car... So, I didn't want to get a ticket for taking a picture from the inside of my car. Hehe. But, nonetheless, I think this is a sweet picture!

Enjoy!

I ♥ Rock n Roll!

LOL =)

In all honestly, I don't know much about either the Rolling Stones or The Who, other than what the novice might now, and I only know a small selection of their music. Hehe... But I know they're cool and that they ROCK!

I bought these small magnetic list tabs in the dollar section at a local Target store!

Time For Some Updatetation...

Wait... Is updatetation even a word? I doubt it, but it serves its purpose! Anyways...

Hello, Hello, Hello!

Well, Sweet Cheeks... It looks like I broke one of my cardinal rules: POST EVERY DAY!!

Unfortunately, that's easier said than done. I'm sorry. I had a really busy week and as a result, I just didn't have time to upload pictures... not to mention that the picture taking opportunities for said week were pretty damn scares. Nonetheless, I still took pictures, but, they're pretty crappy. I apologize. =(

But, enough talk and enough excuses!! I'm here now, and I'm ready to roll! Let the picture blogging... BEGIN! =)

... ... ... ...

UPDATE: I'm going to give each picture it's own post. When I first did this post on August 19th, I put all the pictures together in one post, but I honestly think that even if the pictures are not the best in the world, they are still special, and, as such, they deserve to be appreciated independently. So, yes, I went back and gave each one it's own blog entry! Just pay attention to the date in the post, not of the post, to know when the picture was taken. Okay? Okay! Great! Now scroll on down and enjoy!

... ... ... ...

Aaaannnnd, there ya go, Sweet Cheeks!! About a weeks worth of photos in one post! I hope you enjoyed!
Until Next Time... Sweet Dreams & Pleasant Days!

It's Christmas... In August!

Saturday, 15 August2009

Let's have a slight intermission, shall we....

Let's hide away from this harsh Summer heat (umm... unless you're in the Southern Hemisphere... In which case, you might want to cuddle up next the fire place...), and indulge in some very British Christmas nostalgia! =)

Okay... I'll be honest with you. I took this picture around Christmas time last year. The reason I'm posting it here, now, is that I completely forgot to take a picture today ::sheepish grin:: But, I really like this picture! Some back story, yes? Okay.

I work with kids and, as such, when the holiday season rolls around I like to engage them in little Christmas themed fun. So, this year, I went ahead and made TONS of Christmas Crackers from scratch! In case you don't know what a cracker is... they're great fun! LOL. But, seriously, they're a British Christmas tradition. Basically, two people take hold of each end of this candy shaped cracker and pull until the cracker breaks apart (producing a cracking sound... hence the name) and a bunch of goodies spill out! Or, if they don't spill out, the person with the bigger piece keeps the goodies! The goodies are pretty lame, but that's kind of the fun of these things. Mine had the traditional crown, candy, confetti, stickers, and a small toy.

Photobucket
They were a huge hit with the kids!

Let Us Pray... For a Good Parking Space...

Thursday, 13 August2009

Okay. I hope that's not blasphemous... if it is, I repent. Also, I'm pretty sure this is a Catholic church, so I hope that as a Catholic, I can kind sorta say that without... digging myself deeper into this hole... that I'm digging.... Um... Let's get to the picture, shall we? =)

Photobucket

Thanks to the ongoing street renovations, the Metro Gold Line expansion project, and all around traffic cloggage... I packed just outside this church, and walked just a bit over a block to my destination.

This is what I've been reduced to...

Sweet Cheeks, today, unfortunately, was not a very good picture opportunity day. Coupled not only with the fact that I was in a not so cheery mood... I had loads of issues while on the road! In fact, in hindsight, it's actually quite funny. All day, I had no good ideas for a good picture... and then, when the perfect picture presented itself, I was to busy, nervous and all *ahhh* to remember to take it. LOL.

My car died. In the Target parking lot. On my way to work. And I had trouble finding someone to help me. Hence the *ahhh*

After about an hour, I finally got some help and was able to hit the road again, but I missed my picture. This is what could have been: Imagine my car battery covered in this icky, white, fluffy, foamy stuff! It would have made a cool picture of the day.... but alas, this is what you get:

Photobucket
Somedays, all my meals are consumed from the passenger seat of my car. Today, lunch consisted of McDonald's dollar menu items! Is it sad that I still always count my McNuggets, thinking they might have goofed and given my an extra one?? ::Takes another count:: No, it's still only four.

Until tomorrow, Sweet Cheeks!

This can't be average...

Took this on the road. From inside my car. While it was moving... The things I do for you!

Photobucket
Gotta Love the California sun coupled with Palm Trees!

This picture is the road side view of a cemetery. Not quite sure what I think about palm trees in a cemetery. Maybe it's just a California thing, who knows. But, like I said, don't know quite how to feel about that. Anywho, another thing I don't know how to feel about, is the fact this isn't the only cemetery I drive by when I drive around for work. Honestly, I think with this job, I have driven by a total between 3 or 6 cemeteries on a pretty continuous basis... That isn't the American average, is it?? =)

Until Tomorrow, Sweet Cheeks!

Ahh... Local Public Radio Programing!

I drive around a lot for my work, so to get through it all, I plug in my iPod so it plays through the car speakers, because I thoroughly enjoy listening to what I like to listen to! My tunes! LOL.

Photobucket

But, not even half way through my day, I realize my iPod battery is dying! Nooo!!! That means I have to bear through local public radio programing! Nooo! Lucky for me, the iPod didn't die, that is not until minutes before I made it home! =) Yay!

Oh, and in case you're interested, or curious, the song that was playing on the iPod was:
"You and Me" By Vega4, You and Others

Let the randomness begin!

Greeting Sweet Cheeks!

'Sweet Cheeks' is a general greeting I like to use on Twitter, and, seemingly, I guess I'm also going to use it here. No real reason for it, really, but if you want someone to blame for it, you can blame Mr. Hugh Laurie... he's the one I got it from.

But anywho... that is all besides the point... so let's get to the point, shall we? Thanks!

Hello, there! Hi, I am Me. And you are You. Very nice to meet you, You! It's a pleasure. Welcome to my blog!

Didn't really know how to get past the pleasantries there at the beginning, because, well, let's face it, this is cyberspace, I don't know You and You don't know Me, but we are having an interaction. So, yes, Hi! Welcome to my blog... wait, I said that already. No, problem, it bears repeating =) Hi.

So, yes, welcome. Allow me to explain a bit about this here blog you were kind enough to stop by at. I got the idea for this particular blog from two separate inspirations:

Number 1: My old blog was failing miserably! Which was all my fault really, seeing as how I stopped updating it and whatnot. You can still visit that blog (TV As I See It) if you so wish by following the link in my profile, but, I can't make any promises about when it will be updated, hehe. Anyway, seeing as how that blog was/is in a semi-quasi permanent hiatus status, I decided I still wanted an active blog nonetheless. So, in order for that to happen, I needed something simple and easy.

Number 2: LittleRadge. I don't know him, and he doesn't know me... but I saw this thing he was doing on Daily Booth that he was tweeting on Twitter about. As far as I could tell, he is (along with several other people) trying to take a picture of himself everyday. That's pretty cool. But I don't want to take a picture of myself everyday... so I came up with... THIS!

As the title tries to explains, this is a blog that will make the attempt to take a random picture a day in the random life of this random American girl. Sound good? I certainly think so. Hehe. But, I am placing some guidelines for myself:

1. The attempt will be made to never show a human being in the picture.
2. The attempt will be made to update the blog on a daily basis.
3. The picture will be followed with a short, and hopefully interesting, caption.

And... well, I think that's pretty much it. Don't want to make it to difficult for myself, hehe. But I think rule #2 is going to be hard to keep... I already told you my old blog had updating issues, but please, don't hold that against, me... we all have issues, after all, hehe. But I'm really liking this idea, so I'm going to try. And... I'm probably, every once in a while, quite possibly, post a picture that was not taken on that particular day... maybe because I would have forgotten to take one. This is quite likely to happen in the early days of this blog. But I'll tell ya, hell, I'm being honest here telling you this when I have no obligation to tell you anything! LOL! =)

I guess, the only thing left to do now is post the first picture! Yay! This wasn't taken today, but it's worth sharing... especially because of its awesomely profound randomness!

Photobucket
This picture was a complete accident. It was self taken in my kitchen, LOL. The camera just went off as it was set on the table, but the end result was just brilliant! One of my all time favorite pictures, ever! I just love it! Love the way the fruit selection centerpiece compliments the flowers... I love our old timey radio in the background! It's just so bright and vibrant all around! I hope you like it, too! =)

So, there ya go! Thanks for dropping by, stay in touch and please do drop by again soon! It was very nice meeting you, You. The pleasure was all mine... and in the end, that's all that really matters. ;o)

Oh, and PS:
This is probably the longest post, as I'm hoping to keep these short and sweet. Enjoy! =)
